Two situations bring most people to our office: someone in removal proceedings who needs a defense, and someone already here who needs a lawful path to stay. That is where we start. Petitions, visas and naturalization matter too, and we handle those as well.

Representation in Miami immigration court, bond hearings for detained clients, cancellation of removal, asylum and withholding claims, motions to reopen, and appeals to the BIA. If a family member has been detained by ICE, call before the first hearing. The timeline moves quickly and detained dockets move fastest of all. Whether bond is even available depends on how they entered and their history, and that is the first thing we check.

Adjustment of status through a family petition, consular processing, waivers of inadmissibility, and relief specific to our community, including Cuban Adjustment Act cases. Program-based routes such as TPS and humanitarian parole change with each administration and several have been terminated or are in litigation, so we tell you what is actually available the week you walk in, not what used to be.

Questions we get asked

ICE detained my relative. What do I do right now?

Call us, and write down the A-number and where they are being held. The first question is whether they are eligible for a bond hearing at all. Recent policy has made mandatory detention far more common, particularly for people who entered without being admitted, so this is not something to assume either way. Detained dockets move quickly, which means the window to prepare is short.

Can I adjust status if I entered without a visa?

Sometimes. It depends on how you entered, whether you have a qualifying petitioner, and whether a waiver is available. Cuban nationals in particular may have a route under the Cuban Adjustment Act that does not apply to others. This is exactly the question a consultation answers.

Will a criminal record stop my immigration case?

It may, and not always in ways that match how serious the charge felt in criminal court. Certain offenses are treated as aggravated felonies or crimes involving moral turpitude for immigration purposes regardless of the state-court label. Bring the disposition paperwork to your consultation.
