Carolina Corona

Carolina Corona Jamiel is a member of the bars of Florida, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia state bars. She practices in the area of Criminal Defense, Immigration, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure Defense, Civil Litigation, Landlord – Tenant, and Personal Injury. Carolina worked from 2002 through 2010 as a prosecutor at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, she handled thousands of criminal cases ranging from Misdemeanor Traffic and Domestic Violence offenses to First Degree Murder charges. She has been lead counsel in over fifty jury trials on both the prosecution side and with the Corona Law Firm on the defense side.

Carolina contributes her advocacy and litigation skills and he thoroughness in the preparation of legal documents to the law firm. Her experience ranges from the filing of bankruptcy petitions and immigration residency forms to advocating and strenuously arguing both civil and criminal cases in court.

Mrs. Corona Jamiel attended the University of Florida and St. Thomas University. Her range of experience, presence and professionalism make her an attorney you want on your side and fear opposing.

Ricardo M. Corona

Ricardo M. Corona, known as Ricky Corona, is a supervising attorney at Corona Law Firm, P.A. His practice focuses on civil litigation, including condominium association disputes and personal injury. He represents individuals, families, and property owners throughout Florida with a strong commitment to protecting the rights of those harmed by negligence, misconduct, or unfair treatment. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Corona graduated with honors from the University of Florida and later earned his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law.

As an attorney, Mr. Corona has tried numerous jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts, hundreds of non-jury trials, and handled hundreds of evidentiary hearings and dispositive motions. He has also obtained over 100 dismissals in favor of defendants at dispositive hearings or trial and has successfully briefed and argued appeals in courts throughout the State of Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court, as well as in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

He regularly represents injured clients in personal injury matters, fighting to hold negligent parties accountable and pursue justice for his clients. He also represents clients in condominium association disputes involving property damage, water intrusion,  maintenance issues, and other conditions that affect the safety and habitability of their homes.

Ricky Corona is known for thorough preparation, strong courtroom advocacy, and a genuine commitment to defending the rights of the people and companies he represents.

Nina Tarafa

Nina Tarafa is the Senior Attorney at the Corona Law Firm. Ms. Tarafa practices out of the firm’s Main Office located in Miami, Florida. She practices primarily in the area of criminal defense, contested litigation and trial work.

Ms. Tarafa has sat as lead counsel in over fifty jury trials and has extensive trial experience both in civil and criminal court. Ms. Tarafa is a zealous advocate who practices with professionalism. She is well versed in the law and rules of evidence and uses all legal tools available to zealously advocate for each of her clients.

Since 2016, Ms. Tarafa has focused on family law litigation including high-conflict cases, uncontested matters, dissolutions of marriage, child support, paternity, step-parent adoptions and other related family law matters.

Prior to joining The Corona Law Firm, Nina Tarafa served the community for approximately five years as a prosecutor for the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. She prosecuted cases ranging from misdemeanors and DUIs to Armed robberies and homicides. She quickly rose through the ranks of the office serving as an Assistant Chief of the Career Criminal and Robbery Unit, a Felony Division Chief and a member of the Traffic Homicide Unit.

As a law student at the University of Florida, Ms. Tarafa served an internship at the Alachua County Public Defender’s Office.

ZAMIR CRUZ

Zamir Cruz is a Miami, FL native that attended the Florida International University College of Law where he graduated Cum Laude. During his time in law school, he interned at the FIU Children and Family Law Clinic where he helped advocate on behalf of the rights of learning-disabled children within the Miami-Dade Public School system. While in law school, he was also an intern at the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel working in the dependency division helping to defend the rights of parents who had their children taken from them by the State. At the Corona Law Firm, Mr. Cruz works in the Immigration Department where he assists clients in everything from Citizenship to Deportation Defense. Prior to working in the Immigration Department, Mr. Cruz worked in the Corona Law Firm’s Civil and Labor Departments representing clients in a diverse array of cases such Debtor Defense, Breach of Contract disputes, Employment Discrimination disputes, and Unpaid Wage disputes. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Cruz graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida International University with a B.A. in Political Science and was a member of the prestigious academic fraternity Phi Beta Kappa.

America Alvarez

America Alvarez has been an attorney since October 1987 and with the Corona Law Firm since February 2012. She brings over 30 years of legal experience to her practice. She is a graduate of the University of Miami Undergraduate and School of Law and concentrates primarily on bankruptcy and immigration matters, representing individuals and homeowners facing financial hardship and nonimmigrants achieve a path to residency.  She aims to help the community navigate these complex personal legal matters with clarity and compassion. 

Ms. Alvarez began her legal career as an attorney-advisor with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges, where she assisted in the drafting of legal opinions and worked on labor and Black Lung cases involving coal miners. She later spent two decades with the American division of an international publishing company, focusing on contract drafting, licensing, copyright law across multiple jurisdictions, and litigation support, while also being closely involved in day-to-day business operations.

She subsequently worked at a law firm focused on discrimination law, handling cases involving housing and disability rights, including matters against school boards, hospitals, and large housing organizations.

Throughout her career, Ms. Alvarez has remained committed to providing practical, informed legal guidance while continuously adapting to changes in the law and legal technology.
